In the previous part of the project, I defined the problem statement that “people have trouble make temporary, short list for grocery, gifts and party planning and sharing with others”. I also sent out a survey to gather data about target audience’s habits. To target some of the pain points from this survey, I created a set of goals. The goals focus on efficiency, effectiveness and satisfaction.
Goal to Overcome Pain Points
One time vs Long term lists
“insufficient update of the list” -> the list is updated with every user entry, the list allows multiple editors
“the list is not strict” -> the list does not make extra recommendations
“tools are not fast or convenient enough” -> the list is minimalist, the list does not require downloading
“accidentally deleting items” -> the list allows undo of each list item, the list can be duplicated
Private vs Public lists
“Amazon list only allows Amazon items” -> the list allows links and images
“don’t want to share the list” -> the list is private, the list can be shared to specific contacts, a password can be added to the list
Single vs Grouped lists
“one list is too small to hold all the information” -> the list can be grouped and categorized
Persona
The first person I created is Hannah the homemaker. She is 35 years old, a mother of two and an experience shopper. Her favorite tools to make lists are paper and phone.
“We have a lot of pickles..even if it’s not on the list, we still get them.”
The second person I created is Gabe. Gabe is 22 years old, a new grad from college and working as a game developer. Gabe is spending his first Christmas away from home. Gabe’s friends are doing Christmas gifts exchange, so Gabe is trying to make a gift list.
“I use Amazon wish list, but I can’t include other items.”
The last person I created is Tina the middle school teacher. Tina is 50 years old and she has a cat. Tina plans a lot of school parties for students and faculties.
“Managing the events are hard. Food, decoration, and activities…”
